Tall Tree Ceramics was founded in 2019 by artist Mike Caemmerer in the picturesque Cascade Mountains of North Central Washington. This small-batch, wheel-thrown ceramic studio focuses on both classic forms and unique designs.
Mike's varied portfolio showcases his love for form and a playful approach to creativity. His recent pieces intertwine storytelling with ceramics, particularly through his ongoing Morse Code series. Each item crafted at Tall Tree Ceramics reflects Mike’s artistic commitment and the compelling stories behind them.
Raised in a creatively rich environment with a painter father and a weaver mother, Mike was encouraged to explore various art forms. He first encountered pottery at the Grunewald Guild in 1988 and has primarily taught himself, benefiting from the mentorship of individuals like Jim Halvorson from Bloomington, Indiana. For many years, pottery remained a hobby, but in the summer of 2019, Mike took the leap to devote himself to ceramics full-time.
Alongside his studio endeavors, Mike is also an involved theater artist, writer, director, and educator. He is happily married and the proud father of two accomplished daughters.
